Who am I?

I’m Pranav Ravikumar.

I write about healthcare M&A and industry trends, bridging the gap between deal and technology headlines and the realities underneath: clinical constraints, operating mechanics, and the patient experience. I draw from my experience at both large healthcare companies (Abbott) and healthcare startup environments.

Quick fun facts about me:

• Born in Washington DC and lived in Singapore for 8 years! Currently based in Arlington, Virginia (just outside DC).

• Three-time National History Day documentary finalist. Won a Special Award from the George C. Marshall Foundation for a documentary on the Berlin Airlift.

• Traveled to 30+ countries and counting! Favorites include Hungary, Australia, Peru and Vietnam.

What this blog is about

Most writing on healthcare deals focuses on surface-level narratives and press-release logic, without digging into the underlying incentives that actually drive industry activity. Meanwhile, tech and venture circles often treat healthcare like any other market, as if reimbursement, regulation, and provider workflows are minor details and not the entire operating system.
